A designer is what I am, rather than what I do. I spend what others might call spare time the way I spend working time — at auction previews, in galleries, and on the trail of pieces that rarely appear in the conventional market.
Twenty-five years of New York City renovations has also taught me that the most consequential part of any project happens before construction begins. Getting that foundation right — understanding what a client genuinely wants, and structuring the project around it — is what I find most compelling. The design that follows is the reward.
