Yobitsugi, Yass!

Yobitsugi is a traditional Japanese method of combining random shards of differing ceramic styles to create one vessel with gold or silver lacquer.

Also known as ‘patchwork,’ the aesthetic can also be achieved by deliberate breaking, as is the case with this brilliant work by Nishinaka Yukito.
